Has the SAM assigned you a health fund?
Take back control.

The health insurance office (SAM) has assigned you a fund you didn't choose, often at a higher rate and with backdated premiums. We take over your file, get you out of the assigned fund as soon as possible and handle your formalities with the SAM.

Why act

An assigned fund is rarely the best fit

Basic insurance benefits are identical across all insurers, but premiums, models and service vary widely. An affiliation decided by the canton deprives you of that choice.

Assigned insurer

You don't choose your fund

The canton picks the insurer for you, with no comparison and no choice of the model (family doctor, HMO, telemedicine) best suited to your needs.

Rate

Rarely the best rate

For identical basic cover, the premium can be significantly higher than an insurer chosen after comparison.

Backdated

Billed from day one

Premiums go back to the start of the obligation. A surcharge may apply when the delay is not deemed excusable.

Double affiliation

Insured, yet assigned anyway

Common among cross-border workers: insurance already chosen (LAMal or CMU) but the SAM not informed in time, resulting in two affiliations and premiums charged twice.

How we step in

From the assigned fund to the best solution

Three steps, handled end to end, without you having to run around from counter to counter.

Review of your file

We check your situation, the start date of the obligation and, where relevant, your existing insurance.

Exit from the assigned fund

We compare insurers, identify the best rate and prepare the switch for the first possible deadline.

Regularisation with the SAM

We build the file, challenge any unjustified surcharge and handle cancellation in the event of double affiliation.

Frequently asked questions

Assigned affiliation: what you need to know

The SAM assigned me a fund: can I still change insurer?

Yes, on specific dates. For basic insurance, a change is in principle possible on 1 January, and in certain cases on 30 June. We prepare the switch for the first possible deadline to move you to the best rate.

I've missed the 3-month deadline. Will I pay a penalty?

Cover and premiums go back to the start of the obligation. If the delay is not deemed excusable, a premium surcharge may apply. Each situation is assessed case by case: we review yours before any step.

I'm a cross-border worker and had chosen the CMU. Why am I affiliated to LAMal?

The LAMal or CMU choice must be recorded by the SAM within 3 months of the first working day. Without timely submission, the canton assigns you to LAMal by default. Cancellation is possible by providing a proof-of-cover certificate, which we prepare with you.

How much does your support cost?

Our advice is free for you. As an independent intermediary authorised by FINMA (F01305043), we are paid by the insurers, at no extra cost on your premium. The first callback is with no obligation.

What if you paid less, while being better protected?
